- Are the NewLocal tools free?
- Yes. Every tool on this page is free to use and none of them ask for payment. A free NewLocal profile unlocks saving your work — multiple CV versions, saved checklists, saved searches — but the tools themselves work without an account.
- Do I need an account to use them?
- No. You can build a CV, score it, and run the calculators without signing in. You need a free profile only to save your work across devices or to apply to jobs on NewLocal.
- Where do the numbers and rules come from?
- Each tool names its sources on its own page and shows when it was last checked. We use primary sources — Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, Statistics Canada, and the provincial regulators — rather than summarising other websites.
- How often are the tools updated?
- Rules and figures are reviewed quarterly, and immediately when a source changes a rule mid-quarter. Immigration policy moves: IRCC removed arranged-employment points from the Comprehensive Ranking System in March 2025, and tools affected by a change like that are updated before they stay live.
- Does NewLocal earn money from these tools?
- On some of them. Pages that compare financial products carry affiliate links, and a few high-traffic pages carry display ads. Every affiliate placement is disclosed on the page it appears on, and no company pays to rank higher in a comparison.
